Canada Shotokan Karate (CSK) is a non-profit organization teaching traditional karate-do in Canada since 1972, offering authentic, high quality martial arts instruction to the public.
Karate’s pre-history can be traced back to Daruma (aka Bodhidharma), founder of Zen Buddhism in Western India. The modern history of karate begins in Okinawa.
Special Training has come down to us from martial artists of the past who sought a way to put their mental and physical powers to a test by calling upon their innermost strengths.
What is Karate?
Karate may be defined as a weaponless means of self defense. It consists of offensive and defensive techniques using all parts of the body to their maximum advantage.

How to Begin
Locate the CSK dojo (school) nearest you to observe a practice. In CSK there are no contracts to commit to, so beginners are able to explore karate training without pressure.
Tsutomu Ohshima is the founder of Canada Shotokan Karate (CSK). Ohshima Sensei’s branch of the Shotokan world has become known as Shotokan Ohshima Dojo.
